PM10 Chemical Profile during North African Dust Episodes over French West Indies

چکیده

The French West Indies are periodically affected by North African dust episodes (NADE) resulting in PM10 concentrations exceeding air quality standards. aim of the present study was to decipher chemical profile during NADE over Guadeloupe. samples were collected daily at a rural site and an urban five between April October 2017. During these events, median mass were, on average, 2 5 times higher than post-episode baseline period. Sampled filters analyzed for their quantification constituents including carbonaceous fractions (elemental organic carbon, EC/OC), anions/cations levoglucosan, 51 elements, 57 selected species. An orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) conducted identify specific NADE: 16 elements identified as most control with concentration levels twice high NADE. Among them, only two (Mn V) classified emerging pollutant while no limit values exist other ones. extensive characterization we performed is key step assess exposure populations such events.

Ninety-six particulate matter (PM10) chemical source profiles for geological sources in typical cities of southwest China were acquired from Source Profile Shared Service in China. Twenty-six elements (Na, Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, As, Se, Sr, Cd, Sn, Sb, Ba, Be, Tl and Pb), nine ions (F−, Cl−, SO4, NO3, Na+, NH4, K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+), and carbon-containing species...

Migration and multiple sclerosis: the French West Indies experience.

The French West Indies (FWI), i.e., the islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe, have recently experienced the emergence of multiple sclerosis (MS). This epidemiological upheaval followed a return migration of the FWI population that had previously migrated to continental France. The prevalence MS was 14.8/10(5) (95% CI: 11.9-17.7) on Dec. 31, 1999 and its mean annual incidence was 1.4/10(5) (95% ...

Chlordecone exposure and adverse effects in French West Indies populations

Chlordecone (Kepone) is an organochlorine insecticide that has been used as insecticide and fungicide. In the French West Indies, Guadeloupe and Martinique, it was intensively applied to banana fields from 1973 to 1993 to control root borers. This pesticide undergoes no significant biotic or abiotic degradation in the environment and is still present in soils where it was applied. It was only i...

Correction: Underestimation of Leptospirosis Incidence in the French West Indies

BACKGROUND Leptospirosis is a neglected zoonosis affecting mainly tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, particularly South America and the Caribbean. As in many other countries, under-reporting of cases was suspected in the French West Indies because of inadequate access to diagnostic tests for the general population. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS In order to estimate the real incidenc...
